If you want to do research, your time is probably spent best by a
visit to the state archive in the province your ancestors came from.
See the Research section for more information about research in Dutch
sources.
Also, the Central Bureau for Genealogy
in The Hague has a large collection of microfiches of sources
throughout the Netherlands so you can research families from different
parts of the Netherlands in one visit. It's located next to The Hague
Central rail
station.
If you want to get a feeling for how your ancestors used to live, the open air museum
in Arnhem is worth a visit. Original buildings from throughout the
Netherlands have been rebuilt here. You can walk through old shops,
farms, mills, etc. in full scale.
If you want to find out about local hotels, appartments, events, etc. check out the website of the Dutch tourist office. |
