Dutch Genealogy News for May 2025

Here is an overview of all of the new sources, projects, and other news from the past month.

Sources

  • Indexes and scans of birth records of Bathmen (1843-1880), marriage records of Steenwijk (1933-1942), and death records of Denekamp, Diepenheim, Genemuiden, Goor, and Zwollekerspel have been added to Open Archives.
  • Marriage duties of Hoorn 1721-1797 are now available via the Westfries Archief.
  • Vollenhove baptismal records 1697..1761 have been indexed and are available via Van Papier naar Digitaal.
  • Oldenzaal population registers 1830-1921 are available via the Oldenzaal City Archives.
  • A transcription of a tax ledger of a forced loan in 1600 for various places in Zuid-Holland is available via Genealogie Rijnland.
  • School pupil registration cards of Amsterdam, 1931-1970, are available via the Amsterdam City Archives. They are organized alphabetically.

Archives

  • The Central Archive for Special Jurisdiction will become available in digital format at the National Archives in The Hague. Those records were planned to become public as of 1 January 2025, but was delayed because that conflicted with Dutch privacy laws. A new law is in the works, but in the meantime people can consult the records in person in the reading room, by appointment.   • Historisch Centrum Limburg has expanded their free scanning on demand service to records that are kept in their Heerlen facility. See this overview of record groups in Heerlen.

Projects

  • Civil registration records of twenty municipalities in the Gouda area are being indexed. Volunteers can report to Vele Handen.
  • The Central Bureau for Genealogy has started a project to index passport applications for the Dutch East Indies (approximately: modern-day Indonesia). Volunteers can report to Het Volk.
  • Rotterdam Lloyd passenger lists 1880-1969 are being indexed. Volunteers can report to Het Volk.
