The Regionaal Historisch Centrum Vecht en Venen is hosting an exhibition “Headed for Brooklyn with a Packed Suitcase: Four centuries of Dutch-American culture in archival records” at their Breukelen location. hi yvette, i have family that moved from the veluwe in abt 1620 to new amsterdam. what was the most common reason for migration at the time. I also have lots of family from the achterhoek who left for america in the 1800’s. what was the driving factor. ps. many were farmers but some were pastors. our Reesink family left for australia in 1973.
