Dutch Genealogist Yvette Hoitink just received the 2016 APGQ Excellence Award. The award is given by the Association of Professional Genealogists to recognize excellence in material submitted to the Quarterly magazine. Hoitink received the award for her article “Use Content Marketing to Grow Your Business,” published in the September 2015 issue of the APGQ.
“My first career was in web development and I used those skills to grow my Dutch Genealogy website. It has become my biggest business asset and allowed me to pursue genealogy full-time just two years after I started taking clients. By sharing the techniques I used, I hope that other genealogists will be able to grow their business as well.
It is a great honor to receive this award and I invite other genealogists to share the skills they learned in their previous careers, since we can learn so much from each other.”
It is the first time that the award was given to a non-native speaker of English. Past winners include Dr. Stephen P. Morse, Amy A.K. Arner, and George Morgan.
Congratulations, Yvette. You are in good company with the past winners.
Congratulations Yvette.

Congratulations Yvette what a well deserved honor!!! ! My thanks for all you give on Dutch Genealogy and for our lunch with you in Salt Lake. You are a remarkable person characterized by your willingness to freely share your genealogical expertise to all of us who are seeking our Dutch ancestors. Nogmaals bedankt.
Heel graag gedaan! I loved meeting you all for lunch. It is so interesting to see how many Dutch communities there are around the world, and to learn how we are all interested in our shared heritage.
