Saint Eustatius in the West Indies is one of the Netherlands Antilles. In the 1700s, it was a colony of the Netherlands. This manuscript maps shows the island in the early 1700s and marks all the plantation owners on the map.
The archival description says this map dates from the 18th century. Based on research on the island I recognize several of the names as plantation owners in the early 1700s.

So interesting, Yvette!
This is a very interesting find. My 8th great grandfather was Anthonij Solomons, Plantation number 32. The map must be from the very early 1700s. Many of the colonists here moved to St Thomas in the Danish West Indies in the late 1600s and early 1700s. His daughter Anna came to St. Thomas about 1689-1691. I’d love to chat with you about where you found other information on the colonists.
I just translated the Legend of the map. I did not do further research into these people.
Thanks. My comment was in reference to your final line: “Based on research on the island I recognize several of the names as plantation owners in the early 1700s” I can tell you that I recognize a lot of the names from my research in the Danish Islands.
